glass-ceiling

It is universally acknowledged that an invisible glass ceiling exists, in organizations, in business, in government preventing women from reaching the upper echelons of the ranks.

Dangerous glass ceilings also exist within our own minds regardless of gender. It is what stops you from reaching your true potential, makes you doubt your own abilities, stops you from going for that promotion. It is made up of your fears, beliefs and, most lethally, other people’s beliefs.

Is your own mind limiting you? Do you constantly doubt yourself as you feel you are just not good enough? Smashing through your own Glass Ceiling could be one of the best things you’ve ever done! Here are some great how to tips from ollifest.co.uk

Make a list of all the things you’ve ever wanted to achieve in your life as well as the reasons you believe you can’t achieve them. What are the limiting factors; is it because of time, money, your family situation, your age? Try to find solutions until the list is blank or becomes a ‘to-do’ list.

Surround yourself with people who believe in you and support you. Notice those who zap your energy and impose their own limiting self beliefs onto you. That is their journey. You are creating an awesome journey for yourself.

Stop focusing on what is missing or wrong in your life. Instead focus on all the good.

Can you articulate your strengths? Do you have difficulty tooting your own horn? Learn to speak compellingly about yourself:

Set yourself a big challenge and use it as a proof point to yourself that you are capable of achieving anything you set your mind to.

Don’t get swept up in other people’s lists, lives or expectations. You have your own.

Don’t let the word “no” phase you. No one ever succeeds without being rejected from time to time.

Write some self-belief affirmations and put them where you can see them. Here is one: “I am capable of anything I set my mind to.”

Research people who have achieved your goal. Follow them on social media, their blog, email them and find out how they made it. They had some self-doubt at some point too.

Do something you’re naturally REALLY good at each week so you feed the habit of success.

So there you go – GOOD LUCK! Get cracking…
